We value you, the dedicated members of the media, who take the time to cover our projects and our personnel. To provide you the safest environment in which to do so, we ask that all press covering any City of St. Louis Water Division work site adhere to the following guidelines:
If in the zone(s) fifty feet or more outside our loopers, no special protective gear is required.
If within fifty feet of Water Division loopers, the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is recommended:
If your reporting has been arranged in advance with our Public Information officer (PIO), he may be able to provide some of the above-listed materials. Please ask.
If invited* inside the loopers, all of the following PPE is required:
*No non-Division employee may enter the confines of a secured, City of St. Louis Water Division work site. This may on very rare occasions be arranged in advance. At that time, you and all members of your crew will be advised of the need for the afore-mentioned safety gear. Failure to be dressed in the appropriate PPE will result in being denied access to that area.
If visiting any Water Division facility other than the administrative offices on Kingshighway, all above-listed PPE must be worn.
*Again these facilities are not open to the public, and visits must be arranged in advance with our PIO.
While we understand that you have a job to do, so do our crews. Therefore, we kindly ask that you please respect their time and space, allowing them to focus on the job-at-hand by not engaging them in conversation in an attempt to gather information. Any inquiries should instead be directed to our PIO (pio@stlwater.com).
Work sites are often emergent situations and almost always fluid in nature. Therefore, at the discretion of our Safety Officer, you may be asked to relocate at any time. We ask that you respect his direction.
These guidelines are in place for both your safety and that of our crew members. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
These items are available for use by media outlets under adherence to the requested guidelines.

The Water Division is part of the Department of Public Utilities and, therefore, not a department in and of itself. Therefore, the proper way to reference us is:

Several members of our team are accredited Professional Engineers. This hard-earned title requires a four-year ABET-accredited engineering degree, gaining four years of progressive work experience under a licensed PE, and passing two NCEES-administered exams: the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exams. It is represented by the letters P.E. following their name, much like M.D., PhD., or EdD.
